I love how innovative San Francisco city is while still retaining its quirky side. I think that’s why once I came here I felt like this is a city I could really settle in. It has a little bit of everything I love, nature, art, activities, great food, and interesting people. On my days off I enjoy just walking around the city and listening to tunes while I take in the different neighborhoods, always on the lookout for new places to eat or grab drinks at.
There are so many things to do around the city. I haven’t lived here that long yet so I don’t know everything but here are some of my favorites:
The city is littered with parks, all with its own unique characteristic and some with amazing views. Sit back, do some people watching, and soak in some sun.
Great for people watching, Bi Rite Ice cream is near by too. Notice the really long line.
GOLDEN GATE PARK
This park is huge, but I enjoy walking around the Japanese Garden and Stow Lake where you can rent a peddle boat to be romantic
A little park right in Hayes to take a break from shopping at with this amazing David’s Temple for some shade.
Have a picnic while enjoying great views of the Golden Gate Bridge
2. PALACE OF FINE ARTS
If you’re looking for a place to do a photo shoot this place is pretty iconic. I like coming here to just get away for a bit and look at this awesome structure.
3. EXPLORATORIUM & ACADEMY OF SCIENCE
These are great places to take your kids to do some fun learning. The Exploratorium is more focused on the physics side of science, while The Academy of Science on biology. For us big kids though Thursday nights are great. That’s when its open after hours for 21 & over with an additional benefit of having music and drinks! The science nerd in me loves it!
4. WATERFRONT EMBARCADERO
Its really nice to walk along the waterfront in Embarcadero all the way up. Look at the bay bridge, drink some blue bottle coffee and try some new food at the Ferry Building. You can hop on some street cars and make your way to Fisherman’s Warf if you feel like it too.
5. WARRIORS GAMES
I feel pretty lucky being in the city for this basketball season. There’s so much excitement all the time when the Warriors are playing and plenty of places to watch it.
6. LANDS END
Go all the way North west of the city and you feel like you’re hiking in the forest. A good place to just getaway and enjoy some nature. Check out Sutro Baths and the Labyrinth while you’re strolling along here.
7. TWIN PEAKS
Take a drive up to twin peaks which is the highest point of the city to get amazing views of the skyline.
Eat everything in sight. Yelp started here for a reason. There’s so much great food everywhere to try, amazing brunches and some awesome happy hours.
There are no shortage of events in San Francisco. I feel like there are several to choose from every week. No matter what you’re looking for I’m sure you can find something that matches your taste.
The city really embraces art. There are some great galleries and museums. Walk around the city and you’ll notice some amazing street art, who knows maybe one day when you’ll pass by city hall and see that it has been taken over by giant bunnies.
Pace Gallery in Menlo Park is showcasing a Japanese technology exhibit by teamLAB that is going on until July 1, 2016. It’s one of the most amazing exhibits I’ve seen combining lights, technology and art to create an entrancing digital environment.
And once you get enough of the activities in the city you can do some Daytrips nearby :
Post about each coming soon!
