Capri is a small island off the coast of southern Italy that has inspired many in history because of its natural beauty. Easily accessible form Sorrento, you can choose to stay on the island and escape from everything or just do a little day trip there and get a glimpse of what the island has to offer.
After so many days of walking around exploring and hiking the Amalfi coast getting amazing views of the ocean, we were all looking forward to a boat day. We wanted to just sit back, relax, and just let the sea winds blow in our hair as we soak in the wonderful scenery. Best part of a boat day? Sipping on some bubbly and swimming in the sea.
One of the things I really wanted to do in Capri was see Grotta Azzurra the Blue Grotto. It’s a sea cave accessible by boat on the island where the water reflects the sun, illuminating a beautiful blue color. Definitely something magical. Unfortunately on the day we went the tide was too high so we weren’t able to access it.
It’s okay, we did the next thing on our list which was to see the view of the island from the top of Mount Solaro. To get there we took the bus to the other side of the island and got off at Anacapri. From there it’s a short walk across the piazza and a scenic ride up a chairlift to the top. Lucky for us it was a sunny almost cloudless day so we got perfect views of the coastline all around the island. After a nice cup of coffee and snapping some pictures we headed back down. Our boat promptly picked us up and we spent the rest of the afternoon swimming in the sea away from the crowded beaches. I think if I were to take another trip here I would spend a night in Capri and have more time to explore the island.
