I’ve recently discovered a deep profound love for oysters. It probably borderlines obsession because whenever I see it on the menu my face just lights up and my mouth starts watering. Funny because 2 years ago I probably wouldn’t have felt this way. When I heard about a spot near SF where you can shuck your own oysters and picnic I knew I had to go.
Tomales Bay was very relaxing, no crowds, great food, good company, a perfect way to spend a Sunday. Because of new rules they’re no longer and picnic tables there so we had the area to ourselves which was awesome. To set up out spot for the day brought our own table, a cooler full of all sorts of snacks and of course champagne for mimosas. We had a grand time chowing down on kumamoto oysters and sipping on some bubbly. They’re so delicious!
- So since last year they have removed all picnic tables and grills from this area. If your looking to picnic you can reserve a spot at Hog Island ahead of time and enjoy the day there
- No hard liquor allowed but champagne, beer and wine were fine
- Alamere Falls is on the way back to San Francisco, we stopped by there to finish the day with an awesome hike.
